In response to the ongoing tragedy in Haiti, the School of
Art will be organizing an Art Auction. As a community we can together
help the people in Haiti by accessing what we naturally do. Anyone
who is willing to donate a work of Art to this event is encouraged to
participate. Small works that are not too expensive have the best
chance to sell. The benefit show will begin at 5pm on Monday 25 January and
close Monday 8 February at 8pm. The structure of the event which was decided
in consultation with the student representatives is as follows:
All works donated will be offered with a
minimum bid set by the artist. Sheets of paper listing the Artist name,
medium, department (if relevant) and minimum bid will be next to each
art work. 100% of the money raised will go directly to Haitian relief
organizations. A list will be posted naming a few suggested organizations
to designate as the recipient of the payment and will include information
about the individual organizations.
Any work not sold will be returned to the artist.
On the evening of February 8th,
there will be a closing reception from 6:00-8:00pm. At that time, we will have a
speaker who will discuss Haiti and what is happening presently.
